OFW Story: Don, worked his way out to be Financially Independent & Invested much at a young age.

In the Philippines, we missed out so much on Financial Education/Literacy. It's not bad to help, but sometimes we tend to forget that we also need to help ourselves because you're the machine that's working.

Change your attitude towards money, what is your relationship with money? Rather than spending blindly, pay yourself and set aside for the future.

People don't realize that when we work, we get paid because we're exchanging time with money. The ultimate goal is to have a passive income wherein your investment will pay you.

The more you invest, the more income streams you have.

Don't put savings on a regular bank, instead put it in a high yielding account like CIMB digital bank.

Dreams, Goals and Ambitions - If you want to achieve it, look for ways to increase that income to achieve those goals. Other people limit their goals and dreams by the size of their income. The mindset should be, how can I increase my income to achieve my goal?

For me, I keep track of my budget daily... running, target, surplus/deficit - you need to budget, know where the money is going & how you're spending. If you keep track, you'll know right away the budget and the cash flow.

You need to have the discipline and at least you need to start somewhere.

To the next generation: If you're planning to go abroad, better to be overprepared. You need to know your WHY and if you have that purpose, you'll have that perseverance to really pushed through. You must have "Grit and Resolve", which will ensure that you're equipped with a passion to achieve your dreams.

Don's thought on this experience: It's been a long time since I have spoken to anyone with regard to my experiences especially during this pandemic that there was no personal interaction with people and it's good to get in touch with others and through this platform, I get to share tips and hope people learn from it.
